Give it a couple of days if it does not settle down rearrange the rocks a little. It will help to change the area, since the older clown thinks its all his. but first how long has the clown been by him self

Are they the same type of clown? Did you make sure to purchase the smallest one you could find in a group?

You might have two females. They will likely fight to the death, if so. When you get a group of clowns they are all sexually indeterminate. Eventually, one becomes the female and all other either indeterminate or male. Once they have turned female they won't turn back. The reason people are asking if the new one is smaller is they are hoping it is a male or indeterminate. That is pretty much the only way to have more than one clown safely.

Well, the first clown you have is probably a female because it was the only clown in the tank. The other clown you bought might be a female. Ask your LFS to exchange your clownfish to a smaller size one.

Ok now things have changed. The black clown kicked my old clown out of the bta and is now hosting it with the old one just on the other side of the tank swimming.

The black one is almost 100% female as was your other fish if it had been alone for a while. You need to get rid of one of the 2 and purchase another ocellaris that is the smallest in a group of ocellaris clowns if you want them to pair up.

them may get along eventually, I have 2 females in my tank and they are fine, but if I were you I would exchange for a male to be safe

How long have you had 2 females and are you 100% sure they are both female? It is very unlikely (but not necessarily impossible) to keep 2 females of the same species together in the same tank.

The original clown i had for about 3 weeks. Then i went looking for a black one and found it, its was the smallest clown they had that was black and hes almost the same size as the original one i had just a very slight difference in size.

You may have two females.. or you have two male or a male/female clown having a bit of a spat. When they realize that they are the 'only clowns left in the world' ... or the tank anyway... they may pair up.

If you like them, keep an eye on them.. sometimes clowns pair up immediately. Other times it can take time. They may not pair but just tolerate each other. OR. Worst case they'll fight each other until one is dead. If they fight, hopefully you'll have enough time to intervene and separate them.

If they are both small, they both may be juvenile males.

I wouldn't panic. They may be just staking out dominance. I'd hold onto them and just keep an eye on their behavior... then make the call once you have had some time to observe them.
