Adding 1 or 2 more yellow tangs

I'm contemplating adding another 1 or 2 yellow tangs this year as I really want to have pairs, groups and schools of fish where possible. I have an established Yellow Tang that is pretty peaceful. How would he react to these new intruders?

how many do you currently have? i had 3 in a 90 gallon with no problem, yoru current tang will go after them innitially but it will die down as days go by and if you need any aggression going on just feed the tank as the main reason they will go after each other is because they feel is a threat to their food source.

My friend had one, then added 2 more in his 110H. The original would always go after the two new guys. He would trash the heck out of them. Just make sure you feed them well, or else the head guy is going to kill them both. Use a whole big sheet or nori so that there will be NO food shortage, then they should be just fine.

Great then. Have one in there at the mo and want to add 2 more. Don't care about the "Why does everyone have a Yellow Tang?" threads, I love this fish. Beautiful shape, beautiful colour and eats GHA. Perfect. :)

I put a mirror against my tank to keep my yellow away from new fish. Never put another yellow tang in, but it works for other fish. Pretty funny to watch him chase himself the WHOLE day and never figure it out :)

Off topic, but how can you claim to have a 450g in wall tank and not post pics anywhere? That's just mean. I got all ready to see a great setup and boom, nothing. I like the mirror idea too.

I have been posting progress ever since the tankroom was a concrete foundation. :D

I think I'm doing pretty well as we only started building the house beginning September. Tank arrived beginning November, we moved in in December. Couldn't get any rock from Okinwa all January but it finally arrived 11 days ago and is curing (and stinking). I've had major issues to work out and I'm still not there yet. I have 3 big transformers in there but still not enough power to light all 3 halides well. One is always dim and cuts out alot. I have 2 30A circuits in there running into 120v transformers as we have 100v over here and all my equipment was shipped from the US.

Also I'd post more oictures but my digital video camera is busted so I've been taking normal photos and scanning them in and half don't come out right. Anyway, this was a few weeks ago. Have a bit more rock on the right side now with a big Deresa that I got free in the LR order....

If you're worried ... block off an area in the tank with eggcrate, put the new tang(s) in there, and let them get used to each other for about a week. There will be alot of slapping against the eggcrate for the first few days. This is how i introduced my scopas into my tank which had an established yellow tang :) They get along pretty well, but each has his own cave where he sleeps and doesn't want the other to venture into.

I agree with you on loving yellows ... a small group of them looks pretty nice, too, especially if they're zooming around being playful.
