I've got a 220 gallon reef with an established flame angel. I bought a Potters from my LFS to add to the display. I thought I would have problems with the Flame since it is the established of the two so I pulled the flame out to live in my sump for a week. Introduced the potters to the display everything is good so far. After about a week with the flame in the sump and the potters in the display I reintroduced the flame to the display and it was a war. The potters was all over the flame nonstop. So I was able to remove the potters and its now in my sump for the last week. So my question what are my chances if I add the potters again and have success with both the Flame and Potters. One other detail, the Potters is larger than the Flame. Any suggestions?

They are both Centropyge. That won't work. My tank is slightly smaller than yours and I'm able to fit 8 different kinds of angels but mostly large angels.

Get an acclimation box. After a week, place whoever is in time out in the acclimation box. Let them stay for two days, releasing them just before lights out.

+1 on trying the acclimation box. I have 3 Centropyge in a 75 with no issues. A 220 should be more than fine, but in the end it's all about personality.

Did you add them in at the same time? Or Using an acclimation box and introduce Separately?

Adding them in at the same time has the advantage that no fish has an established territory. Adding them separately is different. One fish thinks the tank is his (hers) and the new comer is "shown the door" in this case the use of an acclimation box will help if done properly. The problem is that there are two members of the same ecological niche in a situation where there was only one previously. In longer tanks, it is less of a problem. In small (shorter) tanks it is a greater issue.

In my case, I've added each 8 of the angels separately to allow sensitive ones a better chance. I've spent a lot of time to do the aquascape to maximize flow, passage ways, and hiding spaces. Of course I planned my stocking sequence so the shy ones go in first and specie like the queen goes it at the end.

Sounds like this COULD work out depending on personalities. Would I be better off removing the Flame from the display and introducing the Flame and Potters together or using an acclimation box? How big does an acclimation box need to be? The Potters is about 2 inches long.

They were all added at the same time to quarantine. In the DT the coral beauty displayed a little aggression (rushing), but the flame is pretty low key. There is also a pygmy, which are generally docile anyway.
