adding a frag tank to the sump

What is the most practical way of connecting a frag tank to the display/sump system? I am planning a 135 dt with 4 overflows drilled in the upper back pannel. The sump will be below in basement or behind a wall in a "fish room" (hopefully). To the sump I want to attach a 30-60 gallon frag grow out tank. To keep things simple I wanted to keep sump and frag tank on same level and connect the two with a 1" pvc pipe (maybe larger??), and use an insump pump to move water from sump into frag tank. Or would it be better to set the frag tank slightly higher (how much higher??) and have it overflow into sump and then have a single pump t'd off to display and frag tank? Please share any ideas or recommendations with details about how to get the water from one tank into the other and back up to display.

I would have the frag tank above the sump with a pump running to just the frag tank. Thats how im setting mine up right now.

Thanks for the info. How much height difference do I need between the frag tank and sump for it to drain properly? I want the frag tank out of sight with the sump (either in basement or in fish room) not up with the display tank. If I elevate it say a foot higher than the sump will that work (considering both are same size tanks)?
