Adding a Juv Chevron to a 300 with Adult

As the title says I am thinking about adding a Juvenile Chevron to a 300 with an Adult Chevron. I knew when I got my Baby Chevron that one day I would have to sell him but before I do I want to check to see if anyone has ever added a juvy to a tank with an adult and they got along? I don't want to add him if there is going to be any trouble.

I don't know but I would speculate that it would not work. I have an adult Chevron that is a wonderful fish but I know that many prefer the looks of a juvenile.

I am afraid also, I don't want to add him and then spend an hour trying to get him out of the tank while the adult beats him up. I was hoping I might get by like I did with these two, they where best buds

Have you considered a clear acclimation type chamber for the young one to stay in for a few weeks so the adult can adjust?

Alton,

I would try this definitely first. I have found that full grown adults tangs tend to ignore smaller ones as they are not a threat to them. Of course this may change over time.

It actually may force the juvi to retain it's colors longer - Not sure on this.

I personally thing the adults are beautiful ... of course the juvi coloration is amazing. Same thing with emperor angels.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Cheers,
Bruce
