Adding a mandarin, tank mate questions

I have a pretty aggresive Flame Angel, I would like to add a mandarin to the tank as the LFS just got in some nice ones eating frozen.
The problem is my Flame is a bully, do you think he will allow the Mandarin or attack it?

Thanks

John

Honestly, very few fish will bother a mandarin dew to the fact that they are in a part of the tank uninhabited by other fish. They also taste lousy. On the other hand, Flame angels are notorious peckers. If they are eating frozen I would say go for it but be prepared to remove it if needed.

I have a coral beauty that is also the jerk/bully of the tank and he never even gave my spotted mandarin a second look when I added him over a year ago. In fact really nobody pays much attention to my mandarin in the tank.

Do you have a good pod population going? Because I would be more concerned about the Mandarin being able to compete for food than aggression.

I wouldn't be worried about he flame angel picking on him. Nobody seems to care about mandarins in the tank. They just fly below the radar haha. Also if the LFS has some that are readily eating frozen I would grab one of them, wouldn't worry as much about pod population, but will maybe have to target feed the little guy if your other fish won't let any food get to him.

Our Mandarin is in our 150G and I'm pretty sure no one knows he is even in the tank... He cruises through crevices in our rock structure towers and moves with the silence of a ninja. Honestly, they are awesome fish and don't think anyone would ever bother them..
