Adding a Zebra Moray Eel to my 95 gallon

Hey guys,

I recently switched my 95 gallon from a mixed reef to a FOWLR and am picking up a 34 gallon Red Sea Max for my office that houses a 12" Zebra Moray Eel. From what I read so far they're fairly docile, but I want to make sure it'll get along with my fish.

I currently have a 5" Yellow tang, 5"Sailfin tang, 3"Blue Face angel, Strawberry Dottyback, and a pair of Snowflake clowns.

Would it be safe to add the eel to the tank? I have glass lids that I could put on to make sure it doesn't jump out of the top, but wanted to make sure that he doesn't eat the clowns. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Given the usual caveat of individual fish and personalities, zebra morays are the moray that is least likely to go after another fish. Mine won't even take pieces of fish when I feed my lions, only coming out when I put shellfish in the tank.

Having said that, I would say that you have at least one fish, perhaps two, that will eventually outgrow your tank. The sailfin tang is a definite, not sure about the blueface - it isn't a dwarf angel, so my assumption is that it will get too large for a 95 in time. You will have a substantial bioload in that tank with an eel.

+1 that blue face angel is going to get bigger than a foot in both directions...the sailfin will be pretty close as well.

I'd be more concerned with finding those new homes in the coming months.

The eel is not likely to eat the clowns at that size.
