Adding another clownfish...?

I have a 36 gallon bow front tank with 11 bubble tip anemones.. I have a false percula clownfish in the tank and a yellow tail damsel. Sadly, the clownfish does not go near any of the anemones. I am going to yank the yellow tail and take him back to the store and was wondering if I could get another clownfish to put in the tank? My LFS told me I should try a black clown that is a little bigger than the one I currently have. My goal ultimately is to have a clown in the tank that will host in one of the nems. Does anyone have any insight as to how or if this could work? I really don't want to get rid of my current clownfish as I've had him for 10 years now... Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet for a clownfish to be hosted in a BTA is to get a Maroon clown. The BTA is a natural host for them and usually they will dive in one the min they see it. If you do get the maroons you will have to get rid of your Percula. The maroons will kill it.

Perculas and Ocellaris clowns natural host are some of the carpet anemones, sure some people have luck with either taking a BTA as a host but more often than not they don't. You would think that with 11 of them at some point your clown would have figured it out LOL :lmao:

You could always try another Percula of the correct proportions for pairing. You never know, the new addition may like the nems. However, after 5 months I'm still waiting for my Ocellaris to take any interest in my BTA's as the BTA's are not a natural host in my case either.

There are porcelain crabs (the small ones) and sexy shrimps which will happily live in your BTA's.

try taping a photo of a clown in an anemone to the glass, facing inwards. it sounds silly, but it worked for me in the past. after months of nothing, my clowns entered the RBTA within a week of showing them the picture.
