I added in copepods and shut off my filter, UV etc so that it didn't suck them in but they are still floating around in the tank; I thought in 2 hours that they would have all settled?? advise

Patience. If they are dead they are dead. If they are "injured" you can't do squat.

I would keep the UV off (perhaps permaently) and switch on your normal filteration after a few hrs.

are they dead if they are floating around ?

are they dead if they are floating around ?

would they normally just settle to the bottom if alive; I had a lot of them first, they were all over the anemone; my tank is fishless due to ich outbreak ; all fish are in QT ; the fish store advised to get the mandarin but I think that he did such a great job /hermit crabs as well that I don't see them any more and he was looking thin so the fish store advised to get these to feed him and build up supply ; a little more help for the newbie if you could elaborate

I get the impression that your LFS suckered you into purchasing a Mandarin and then sold you some "pods" to feed him?

If so .. take the Mandarin back. Mandarins belong in large mature tanks that are loaded with live rock and teaming with "pods". They don't belong in new tanks.

I suggest you take the Mandarin back and look for another LFS which has better knowledge of some of the basics of SW.

you are right

you are right

one question led to the purchase of the fish then the pods ; guess they baited the hook and reeled me in

If you have plenty of live rock, and your tank is a few months old, you shouldn't have to worry about pods....
