Adding fish after starting copper treatment

Good day,

So I recently started copper treatment for fish in my tank and I'm progressively working my way up to the therapeutic level necessary for treatment external parasites (0.020-0.025 mg/L). I'm suppose to get some fish in the next upcoming days, and these fish will be added to the same tank. I'm wondering if I can add these fish to the tank after I've already reached the copper therapeutic level. Any assistance would help

Hmm"¦ Did you use copper in your main tank? Are you going for a reef tank? Or fish only tank?

Well some brands of copper instruct the user to bring the dose up to the therapeutic levels over 2 or more days, I'm guessing for the sake of the fish. It is poisonous to them.

I would NOT just try to acclimate new fish to the copper levels in the tank. It needs to be brought up slowly. What are you treating the fish for? If it's ich you can do TTM in 12 days and be done with it. You can also treat with prazi at the same time and take care of flukes. Then just watch the fish for a couple of weeks and see if anything else comes up.

This is how I do things and my view only. Only going by what you are asking ,any other info you will need to add to conversation. Alot of info on the site, search is your friend.

If the fish are coming from online vendor I would acclimate, I would stop the copper until the new fish are acclimated. Then go thru your copper treatment.

A LFS is different, ask if there using copper and there level and salinity. Try to get your tank to there specs, float bag for 25 minutes then put fish in.

I use a 30g Bio cube for my qt, its worked great for me.

I don't use cooper anymore, but if I am not mistaken, I think the fish needs 30 days at therapeutic levels. If you already have a fish at these levels, then adding another fish will reset the clock, IMO, as the new fish can bring in a parasite.
