Adding fish to existing tank

When you add fish to an existing tank with other fish do you do anything like turn out the lights? If so do you turn out for the day or just for a little while? Do you wait until the next day to feed or the same day?

I usually use an acclimation box. the fish usually days in there for 2-3 days, then I release it after the lights goes out.

Besides QT and acclimation, I just put it in. No light out or anything. My tank has plenty of hiding spot. I feed as usual because other fish gotta eat.
