Adding Flame Wrasse females

Hi all~

I have Flame Wrasse Male and plan to add females.

I searched RC forum about this and some reefers recommand 3 females.

Is there any specific reason?

Two females are not enough?

Thanks in advance.

I just have a pair and they're doing fine. They really dont do much with each. I think the reason to have more females is for the male to turn supermale and keep his colors. More girls for him to impress

That's for sure. It definately does not always workout as planned. I have one male and 3 females. Added a few more females and the original group of 4 harassed them horribly and would not let them in the group. Ended up taking them back and trading the new females back in.

you mean what causes the change from female to male? if so then dominence between them as a group and there hierarchy they set up

That means 3female has more possibility to maintain to female than 2, that is why 3 females better?

If I order them, How many females I should do?

The rule I follow is a pair or more than four to a school but NEVER three. If you have three (a male and two females) you always tend to see the dominant female beating the smaller/submissive female. It's a dominance thing. I've had this experience with my Achillies Tangs and Multibarred Angels.
