Adding more scarlet shrimp

I have 1 scarlet shrimp in my 180 and when I introduced another the 2nd one wasn't really to be seen from, mabye the 1st one killed him. My question is what is the best way to add more scarlets? I'd like to add 2 more and pick out some bigger ones so they're less likely to get attacked from the established one. Does anyone have experience adding more scarlet shrimps when 1 is already established?

Are you sure that the second one is dead? If adding one more one I would do a little bit of reefscaping. If adding more than one I would purchase an established pair, if you can find one, and introduce them to the opposite, of the current shrimp, end of the aquarium.

I think it's dead because it's been 2 weeks and I haven't seen him, I don't have that many hidden rocks. I saw it's exoskeleton and thought it molted, but then it never showed up again So now I figure it's a goner....
Introducing a pair is a good idea, I'll introduce them on the side of the tank, with pair of cleaners and if they want to venture over the other side they'll do so at their own risk.:eek1:

I have seen many encounters between the scarlet and other shrimp(including scarlet), they do not really do any damage, mostly they just advance and retreat or vise versa. You also have a larger tank then I do...so room might be to your advantage...then again it might be disadvantageous since they are not used to seeing each other all the time, who knows? All I can tell you for certain is that CBS belong in thier own tank!!
