Adding new live rock to tank

Hi all. I have a 5g pico tank and was wondering if adding new live rock will set off another cycle or possibly harm the tank?

I have about 3-4 lbs in there right now and was going to add another 1-2.

Thoughts?

I just set up my 3 gallon with cultured Fiji rock that was barley moist, I used water from an established tank and Carib sea alive Fiji pink. Added a bottle of dr tims one and only and waited 5 days then added Zoas and a Favia. Nitrate was a bit high and phosphate was at .14. Everything is doing great. I am getting algae on the front glass but other than that it's all good. I did add 10 hermits and a fire shrimp and they are going strong

Since it's already an established tank (over 2 years) would adding more rock disrupt any of the biological processes?

Basically wondering if I should opt for dry rock instead?

If it's live and you keep it wet during the transfer you shouldn't have a problem. The more time out of the water the more organics die off which result in the cycle process. Don't use dry rock as it will cycle in such a small system. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Depends what's in the rock.... Nutrients can be leached out. Best to cycle in a container elsewhere and then added.
