Adding Ocean Seaweed

90 gallon a little over a year old. I added some, what i think is, seaweed to my tank. Does anyone know what this is?








I washed it off with tap water and added to the tank. Does anyone have any experience keeping this "type" of seaweed?

Why would u rinse it off with tap water instead of saltwater?

No idea.

First, never add anything to your tank that you have no clue of what it is. Second, you don't use tap or freshwater to rinse saltwater life, unless you just want to kill it.

Does it look like codium macroalgae to you? I used to have some that looked like that

Pretty sure its Codium. It's a very nice macro algae. Likes temps below 80, slow growing, non-invasive and kinda looks like a coral or sponge. I wasn't able to keep it long term myself, but others have. Good luck with it!
