Adding Replacement Clown

Fishtails

So unfortunately last night I came home to find my female percula on the carpet. I'd had her for the last 2 months with her mate and they've both been doing well. I've never had a clownfish carpet surf, but then again I don't think I've kept any in a open top tank until now. I want to get a replacement later on today. I'm relatively sure the male is indeed a male, he submitted to the female on a daily basis; however if I do add a clown from another tank that I'm not sure is female what should I look for? I know most recommend adding a larger, but what if that larger isn't a female or dominant fish due to the fact it's still trying to establish its dominance, or will it most likely be a female or give me the best shot at repairing my male? Or should I look for the largest clown possible. My male is around 1.5-2". The female was around 2.5". He looks lonely in the tank now, I'm really bummed because she was so active and pretty. Please chime in folks and give me your opinions.

Went with the latter. Found a nice juvenile percula. It immediately submitted. Hopefully they pair off fairly soon.

Bummer on your clown! :(

Never had a top on either of our tanks and no clowns lost (knock on wood). I did lose a diamond sleeper goby and a scooter blenny to the hardwood floor. Sad days those were :(
