Adding rock from a bad tank.

I have some nice rock but from a tank that has been sitting un-used. I have it in a tub with a power head running over it. It has been three weeks and I have tested the water. Ammonia is 0 but the nitrates and nitratas are off the charts. What do I do? Should I keep doing water changes and wait till all levels are 0 or is it safe because Ammonia is 0 to add to my display tank.
I am very wooried about adding these to my 60 gallon tank with 29 gallon sump as the water levels are perfect and I have not had any porblems from a tank I have had for 5 months?

I would do water changes until the nitrites, nitrites and phos are reasonable. no reason to mess up your other tank.

If you add those with those #'s you're gonna wreak havoc on your tank. I agree with Salty. Water changes until levels are zero, but give it time to cycle. Don't do water changes and then put them right in the tank. Test in a few days to be sure.
