adding rock

So I am about ready to hit my aquarium with a sledge hammer!!! I moved my GBTA out of the back of my rock scaping today because I have been thinking it is going to be kicking the bucket any day. It has been hiding behind the rocks for about a week. I know that this is somewhat normal, but it has made no attempt to move anywhere near where I can feed it. So me, being a newbie, moved it and in the process, my rock scaping has been completely messed up. Now, I had an experience reefer that I bought the aquarium from come help me do the rock scaping before I added water. I attempted to put it back, but nothing went together the way it was. So now it looks like crap. I was wondering if I added some more live rock to my aquarium from one of our LFS would it cause any cycle in my tank?? I supposedly have marshall island rock in there and was wondering if figi rock would look okay with it?

Thanks

Tyson

As long as you add rock that is already cured then you don't have to worry about a cycle. It is possible that another cycle wouldn't happen anyway, but to many variables involved with that, better to just get cured rock.

might be a dumb question, but I'm so new to this I don't know. Is the rock you would buy at Memfish or Kermit's Reef already cured. I'm referring to the rock in the tubs in water

Just be sure and ask them if it is cured or not and they will be glad to tell you how long that they have had it.

You do not want to add some to your tank if it is some that they just recieved. Just ask to make sure, neither of those two would tell you wrong.

don't worry I am sure most of us have aquascaped several times before. Me I am a little OCD with it. You could try to rearrange what you have again.

thats good, you can still tweak in a few days. Usually I end up liking it better in the end. I just sit and look and then move around a little at a time. Then TADA

If you give the GBTA time it will come out to eat .Sometime my get in the back of the tank. An I just leave it alone.Sometimes they want to be alone. But give it time....Because you could kill it.They stay in the back for weeks at a time.An than They will move on their own to the front.

Thanks for the info. That is good to hear. What do you feed yours. I bought this one from Kermit's Reef and was told to feed it a freed dried krill once a week.
