Adding Sand to existing Fuge?

How can I go about adding sand to an existing fuge without having a cycle in my tank. Could I put a small filter on the fuge and close the valve until the cycle (if any) is over before opening the valve again?

I don't see why you couldn't add it a small amount at a time over several day. I have know of reefers adding sand to an existing tank w/o problems.

I'm with Kim,
Shouldn't have any problems.....
I've added buckets of dry sand to an established tank with no problems.
