What is the best way to add sand to a established tank.

not bad... thats a good suggestion.
another is to drain enough water to cover the addition, place the bag (after you have cleaned it) in the tank and slice it under water while its already on the bottom. then just spread it. the less you disturb the rock the better. make sure you rinse it first to minimize the silt.
