Additional kalium dosing? With component 1 2 3.

Does anyone dose extra drops of kalium? After dosing component 1 2 3? On paper AF state that zeomix will remove some kalium? Since i am using zeomix,carbon and po4 minus.. Do i need to dose drop kalium daily? Thanks in advance.

I didn't dose Kalium - I always used Component1+2+3+ and Zeo Mix.
I think that zeolites do not absorb potassium.

Hi Debora - no they definitely do - I had high potassium & ran 1.4L(600L tank) of AF zeomix for a while & it does pull K down....with the lower amounts like the 300ml its maybe not noticeable so much...i was probably higher flow rate also doing net tank volume/per hour turnover.
Maybe with the 123 theres enough Kalium to cover it but with ABC it has none & it definetly drifted downward

Yes just a slow steady decline ,nothing sharp, Salifert Potassium is a good easy kit for testing where its at.

Did you ever test your potassium? Or do you ever test potassium? Not sure if you have a tank anymore or not since your thread hasn't been updated in the longest time. I would love to see what it looks like if you still have it up.

I find that if you shake zeolites there is a big difference in performance of the material and from what I can tell potassium is taken up more. Potassium is lost as well with certain large skimmers. I can tell when my zeolites are not performing because potassium depletion slows down. Just my experience.

I use a calcium reactor now. Yes I had to dose potassium when using comp123. You have to test your potassium often to see how fast it is depleted from your tank. Every tanks different since it's thought that many things use or pull potassium from the water including, skimmers, zeolites, animals and bacteria.
I recently have bumped my potassium up to a higher level and it's now staying more stable and I am not having to dose as often. This might change over time though, we will see.

Just an interesting add for here.....(i'm a carx user not 123)
When i stopped using zeolites i let my guard down thinking my potassium would stop dropping as hard,WRONG.
With biopellets my drop is just as bad,like what Piper is saying there seems to be a case that bacteria suck it up.
The bacteria suck it up then we point them as much as possible toward the skimmer - guess what

Yea I use two huge skimmers, dose about 50 ml of vodka and 50 ml of vinegar a day, and run a large vertex reactor full of zeolites shaken daily changed monthly. If I forget about potassium for a week it will drop amazingly fast. It's very odd it hasn't dropped much this week since I got it up to 440 I haven't had to dose much.
