Getting ready to buy new float valves... I've always used the non-adjustable float valves from BRS, but is there any benefit of using the adjustable ones? What do you prefer?
The adjustable one has a pivot point in the arm with a wingnut. When the nut is loose you can pivot the float up or down and tighten the wingnut.
It IS possible for the wingnut to work itself loose over time, but I wouldn't worry about it if you're the type who's willing to check little things like that occasionally. I've seen the compression fittings for the hose work loose over time, too.
I like the one like brs sells but adjustable. Forget where I get them but Ime changing the angle slightly down removes any chance of the floats taking on water.
Very interesting guys, thanks. Sounds like it's a resounding yes for the adjustable float valves. I've always used the non-adjustable simply because I was always worried about the wing nut coming loose. I'll have to try the adjustable this time around.
