So, got my medium queen angel in today. Dripped her for 4 hours and in she went. The PBT was on her immediately. They scuffled for about five minutes and the smaller Queen went and hid. The other fish were curious, but the PBT still goes back to the hiding spot of the queen. Maybe the tang just wanted the queen to submit and they will settle. How long before I am likely to see the Tang, been told that she could very well stay hid for the better part of the weekend. I think the yellow tang is happy as the PBT has someone else to focus on. The scuffling wasn't too bad and was short lived (the PBT and yellow tang still display for each other on occasion, but they bickered for several days when I got the second tang.

The Queen was out this morning up at the surface. The PBT was still harassing him so I used a piece of eggcrate and gave the Queen a third of the 180, unfortunately all but the grouper is contained in the other 2/3. She is swimming about now and was even picking at the rock. how long should I leave her like this to acclimate? It cuts down on the swimming room for the tangs.

If you are in the habit of putting newly aquired fish straight into your main tank, then this will be a short lived problem. Without quarantine, you will be dealing with disease and parasites shortly.

Forgot to answer your question. It is not unusual for fish to squabble for a few days (especially territorial fish like the PBT), . If it persists beyond that with you may need to remove a fish.

I had my 29 gallon set up and running for a QT, was advised to go ahead and put him in the main tank if he/she looked well instead of stressing him out twice by acclimating him to the QT and then to the display.

I would go with could be dealing with parasites/disease.

That was bad advice. It could take two weeks for parasite infection to appear. Always quarantine new arrivals or risk the entire tank.

So, I ended up separating the PBT and queen with a piece of eggcrate. They have been this way for a week, The PBT is just now appearing to lose interest in the queen (for days they were like two dogs at a fence. I wanted the queen to have a break. She is eating well now. Should I go ahead and remove the divider? Everyone one but the grouper is away from the queen. The lunar wrasse seems a little upset (there side of the tank is 2/3 of the display. Has anyone else done this? What can I expect when the eggcrate comes out? I m sure that the two will have some scuffles, but hoping that the queen has had time to rest and establish residency on her side of the tank.
