Advanced Polyp FRAGGING question

I fragged my first few polyps a week or two back. It was pretty straight forward with a piece of LR/Rubble under them.

I am wondering if I could scrap off single polps and put them in different areas of my tank?? I have this piece of tonga branch that I want some zoos to grow on. Could I just cut a polyp at the lowest part of its flesh? Would it live if this was done?

I've already thought of just putting a small frag of zoos near it to spread, but am trying to find out if this can be done to get a few zoos much higher up on the tonga.

Anyone know?

You should not cut the zoanthid polyps. They will probably die, and could even poison you.

With patience and a very sharp knife, you may be able to scrape away the rock from underneath the polyps. In some cases, on some kinds of rock, this is very easy to do. Oher than that, I'd suggest just repositioning the rocks and allow the zoanthids to move on their own.

Good Luck! :)

Thanks for the tip. The reason I ask is because I know someone who has tried cutting them at the very lowest spot with a blade and I think they had success doing it. I am not completely sure.

It does make sense to try to get as much of the rock as you can so the polyp base is whole.
