Advice For New 220 Gal System

I've had had smaller tanks in the past, but had an opportunity to get a 220 gal tank and stand for a great price that I couldn't pass up. I've been working to get things laid out and I was wondering if anyone had some helpful advice for larger tanks? I'm looking for advice about what types of things you feel are "must haves" or setup recommendations for larger systems. Thanks for the help!

Best advice I can give is to research every move you make. You can afford to make mistakes on smaller tanks, but on bigger tanks, it costly. You can switch from Halides to LEDs on a 40 breeder for about 300, if you DIY. But try that on a tank that's 5x the size! Research, research, and buy once!

Well I know for me up grading from a 90 gal to a 240gal. I'm most happy about my purchase of a good Protien skimmer. I bought a super reef octopus xp 3000 int and I never have worried about nutrient levels.
Now if I only felt as good about my lighting and flow I'd be set.

Good luck
And have fun

AS for return flow from your sump a dart would be sufficient but internal flow I would definitely use Vortech's . You can change their position to suite you needs and the flow patterns are pretty versatile! For lighting, I use AI's leds. Here you really need to do your homework. Lot of brands out there unlike when I purchased mine way back when. Not saying I am unhappy with them, not by a long shot, just you have more choices today ! Good luck, Neil.
