Advice needed on 300g upgrade

I am upgrading from a heavily stocked 125g to a 300g with a 100g stock tank sump total 400g system. I am going to transfer everything over this weekend. Originally I was going to put all my corals in rubbermaid cantainers and transfer the water valume to the new tank. I got to thinking last night my new tank is very close to the old tank and maybe I should just tie it in to the 300g tank with a low flow pump to acclimate everything to the new water perimeters before the transfer. I know I would be wasting 100g of salt water but all livestock would be acclimated to the new tank already minimizing stress. What do you guys think about this plan?

I would think that as long as you are not adding a large quantity of additional fish you should be fine to just transfer every thing. As long as all of your levels are the same there shouldn't be that much of an issue. Going to the larger water volume things are a lot more forgiving. You shouldn't have some huge ammonia spike like I would expect on a smaller tank that will be cycling. The larger tank will have to cycle and there is a good potential you will have algea blooms, FYI.
