hi have my tank running for close to 3 years. Was thinking of doing a major rescape. So would like to seek all your advice if its better to take out all the sand and put in new sand or just leave the sand alone? And do i have to cycle the tank?

Also any nice scape ideal???:spin1:
Mine tank is mainly sps and zoa... 5ftx2ftx2.5ft.This time round thinking of using less rock...
below are my current tank pictures....

First of all, congrats on your obvious success! Your tank looks very healthy! As to the scape, it does look a little crowded and fruit standish...but I agree, some rock coming out wouldnt hurt and would allow for a more natural appearance. If you just removed a section in the middle, offset to one side or the other it would provide for a more natural feel and give some depth.

When it comes to sand, I would replace it if its that old. Just leave some of the old sand mixed in with the new and it wouldnt take long to cycle back in. Adding sand will usually spike phosphates for a bit so just run some gfo to offset it and wet skim as youll get lots of fines and dust from the new sand. It shouldnt bother your coral too much if you rinse it really well in ro water before adding it. Also, you can use a long tube funnel or a beer bong to add it to keep the dust cloud down.

thanks bro, i agree that it looks crowded and heavy. I was thinking of taking out all the rocks and do a rescape. And how much of the old sand do i have to remove off?
