Advice on Coral spot...

Hello,

We picked up this coral at a LBS a few weeks ago and noticed a small spot the size of a pea after getting it home. I tried searching online and the forums but couldn't locate anything similar. Its now the size of a dime and I'm guessing the coral is dying but am not sure. Not sure what step I can take, if any, that would help. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Branden

It looks like it should be a green gonipora. It's hard to tell you where to place it without knowing more about your tank -- lights, flow, powerheads, depth of tank, etc. However, it's showing it's skeleton, receding and has no extension so it's not doing well. I have 6 or 7 larger colonies in my tank and the like a solid medium flow without a powerhead right on them. When extended you want them to sway to the side a bit. They also do best in medium light. 12-16" below the water line.

When first put into the tank you are encouraged to direct feed them 2-3 times a week until they are established. OysterFeast, Phyto Feast, abnd Roti's work great.
