Advice on getting a new Maxima Clam

I have some Oenone Fulgida worms in my tank. I have bought a few small 2" clams and they have all been eaten. I have one large Maxima about 5" and he has been in that tank for about 6-8 months where as the smaller ones only live about 1 week. My LFS has another 5+" tear drop Maxima do you think it would be OK to buy this one. My larger Maxima has had a few bites taken out of him, but he always recovers. I am trying to lessen the stress from the one I have. I also want to get some opinions to see if the stress of putting the clam in a new tank and possibly getting a bite or two would be too much and kill the clam. I have removed 6 of these worms and I am unsure if there are anymore, but I would have to believe there are a few others. I have been looking for a while, but have not seen anymore. If the worms have killed other clams and have taken chunks out of your existing clam, I think you answered your own question unless you are certain that you got them all (I don't know anything about those worms so no help there). I would hate to risk it.

Oenone fulgida worms are predators of snails and clams so with that being said I would say not purchase a clam until your certain they are all gone. A pest trap wouldn't be a bad idea...but the stress from moving into a different tank and the added stress of having chunks taken out of it by a natural predator wouldn't be in the best interest of the clam.

Pest traps do not work one bit for these worms. They leave their butt end in a rock so they sneak in and sneak right back out of the trap. I have caught 6 and I think I have them all, but not 100% sure. I certainly don't want to get a new clam just to have it die. I just want to keep the one I have alive. The one I have seem much too large for them to eat and only gets about 1 small chunk taken out about every 2 weeks or so. Since I caught the last worm no more chunks have been taken out, but it's been about 2 weeks. I will continue to monitor to see if I have any others worms. I was just looking to see if it would be a good idea because the new clam would be too large to be eaten and then it would drastically reduce the stress on the clam I have currently to be attacked about once per month. The clam I have now I am sure would certainly not like to be a snack every other week, but does seem to recover from it just fine. Anyway thanks for the advice and that is what I figured most people would say, but thought I would ask for the advice anyway. Thanks again.
