advice on upgrade

I am considering upgrading.I have a 65 DT and a 21 anemone tank plumbed into one system.I have very little sump capacity due to my SRO 2000 which only works with 6 in of water,us,ng a small tank that i built for a sump that just holds my water capacity within an inch of the top.Another thing that bothers me is having NO room under my tank.I built everything from the ground up and learned alot since.I am looking at the red sea 450 or building my own.I am also looking at tiling the floor under my tank and adding more electricity behind.

questions
Timing for everything..whats the best way to do this?

re aquascaping? i have some aptasia(not overtaking)should i transfer some or all of my existing rock..i am really loking for a new scape but my corals are attached(alot of SPS) should i cut around my existing colonies?

If i do it myself..recommended Tank Stand and sump builders?can i do much bettr than the red sea,i like that the reefer is super quiet(herbie type overflow

tips and tricks, ive never done this before..dont want to lose what i have

all advice appreciated

Is a reef savy out of your price range? You Can Have One Custom Made To What ever Dimensions you want and they are sickkkkkk

Just check out a bunch of build threads and see what you like. Tile underneath is s great idea as well as adding electrical circuits. That's the first thing I did. My stand is taller than most prefab stuff but if I were to do it over it would be taller. My overflow us a herbie and its dead silent. You asked a very open ended question that only you can answer. The biggest benefit of the Red Sea stuff is that it's all set up for you. The biggest drawback is that options are few and there really is not s whole lot of flexibility. If you want to keep a lot of your stuff, I would set up a second transfer tank or relocate your tank temporarily until the new one is set up that way you can transfer stuff slowly.

Usually the best way to go is custom. You pay more but you get exactly what you want. Let's face it, you are about to spend s butt load of money, might as well put it towards something you REALLY want.

I agree, build threads are very helpful. RedSea's are nice, but expensive and limited for the future.

To Rovsters last comment: nothing wrong with buying used as long as you are getting what you want.

+1 - I debated this for a while, ultimately I decided that in order to get what I really liked and something I was very very happy with I needed to go custom. I ended up ordering a Reef Savvy and quite frankly, it was the right decision for me. They are not cheap but quality is something you can definitely see/feel and be very happy with. The wait time for a Reef Savvy tank is about 6 months, if you can wait...their tanks are awesome.

I totally agree about getting used if its what you want and a great price. I've alluded to this before, but I have a second build in the works, but it will likely take longer than the first. I've been collecting mostly used but some new equipment that I've gotten at a huge discount on the used forums. All the equipment is premium but I didn't pay premium prices. All I'm missing is the tank and stand. I will likely build the stand, and have a custom tank made or make it myself if I feel ballsy enough. This will be a smaller tank but more specialized. And yes Eddie, its going to have a halide;)
