I have a nano 12 gal JBJ Deluxe set up over 2 years, lots of rock and coral and 1 false perc clown. Any suggestions for a tank mate for the clown, just added him yesterday.

Some of the small gobies might be nice like the genus Gobiodon or clown gobies. Some of the small shrimp gobies might also be good like the Amblyeleotris genus and others. You might want to look into some inverts too like some sexy anemone shrimp.

Stonogobiops nematodes
I have one of these. Maximum lenth 3" when full grown. Cool little fish once he gets used to his new home and comes out from hiding.

If you just added that fish, that's a huge fishload increase from zero to whatever. Maybe you should run that system at least a month to let it get used to the first fishload.

the smaller the worser :D

I agree with Frags idea. Also, suggestino for a mate: Another Ocellaris Clown. They seem to do best when kept in pairs and you don't get the "complete" picture just having one. Also, a rainford goby is a nice small addition.

(fyi, this is only a suggestion, not a recommendation, I personally would not keep a clown in a tank that size, but that's just me)

don't the clowns have to be introduced together? I am not quite worried about the load, this tank is going on close to 3 years old

No they don't. Since you have one ocellaris in there, if it's been there for over a month, odds are you have a female. Adding another now (get a small juvi) and it'll turn out male in all likelyhood. They're hermaphroditic. Besides, ocellaris are kinda timid and gentle for a clown. I've owned several and have yet to witness anything even close to aggressive behavoir. Given a sufficiently large enough tank, ocellaris can even be housed in groups, although they will devlope a pecking order and this should be watched to make sure all specimens are getting food.

I would also add another clown. Try to get one from a tank with several in it to help asure it is a male. Also it has to be guite small. More so than your current clown anyway.
