Advice please

I had a florida rock tank years ago and there is nothing like it. I am starting my 2 tanks over. I want one of them to be TBS rock, but with fish that I won't be able to keep in my sps tank. Will non-reef fish decimate all the fun stuff on TBS rock?

I think if you post specific fish/quantities/and tank size, you may get a more accurate answer. There is a 400g mixed TBS reef on the forum somewhere. I'm sure there is some give and take, but it would really depend.

I am in the planning stage, so I am open to all suggestions.

If it was me, I would get the rock, then decide what you want to add and just research each fish to see if it going to...you know, eat all your shrimp/crabs/ etc. My priorities are definitely what is on the rock first, but I'm not really concerned if something is going to eat all the macro algae for example.

There is going to be a happy medium regardless what you put in unless you specifically choose stuff to decimate each type of organism. You may just have to replenish a hermit crew for example.
