Advice re. multiple yellow tangs

Hi, I'm posting this in the large tank forum because of the many threads I've seen with multiple yellow tangs in the same large tank. I have a 350G that is about 18 months old, with many fish of different sizes and types, including 4 tangs - 6 inch naso, 6 inch regal/blue, 6 inch powder blue and a 6 inch yellow. I'm thinking of pulling my yellow, which is the most aggressive of the bunch, and replacing him (her?) with 3 smaller yellows because I really like the colour and the potential to school. Any advice on whether and how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a QT or hospital tank, you can remove fish that get too "full of themselves" and give them a couple of weeks of time-out. That will usually change the pecking order in the display and can be a great way to control aggression without having to get rid of fish that you otherwise really like having around.

On the other hand if you really just want that "moving wall of yellow" that a school of yellow tangs will give, you can probably just get a couple more yellows about the same size and add them, that will certainly mix things up a bit. Be sure to QT and acclimate accordingly.
