I have 265 gallon mixed reef that I have been trying to move towards SPS for some time. Initially, due to some serious overstocking in my original 125 I had extremely high nitrate levels. In order to combat those I upgraded to my current 265 (about 350 gallons total) and also introduced NP biopellets.
I was very successful in brining my nitrates down and I eradicated hair algae (nuisance levels only) at the same time, but now my corals that used to have good polyp extension have pretty much closed up and almost all of them seem to be barely hanging on.
I have decided to pull the pellets and try ZEO. As such I bought the pro starter package and am wondering if there is a really good primer for converting from pellets. I have seen some good primers for starting from scratch, but as that is not what I am doing I would appreciate any advice I can get.
1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons 350
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter-
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique-no, but I anticipate starting either a reactor (I have one, that I haven't set up yet) or dosing
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.) NO
5. Are you using Ozone- NO
6. Are you using UV- NO
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume) SWC 250 S2 cone
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels - not tested, and 10
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels - Cal 390, ALK8DKH, not tested
10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.) live rock
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) 2x54W T5 actinic, 2x39W T5 actinic, 3x 250W MH HQI, 1x AI LED SOL Blue
12. What corals do you keep-trying to keep SPS
13. Tissue color (light or dark) dark
14. How long has the tank been running- 6 months since upgrading
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system- Reduction of Nutrients and those classic zeovit color's.. trying to get my coral to thrive instead of barely exist
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.)not yet
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) 250 lbx
18. Any present problems SPS barely extend polyps or just die
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.) color in minimal
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.) API
