So I finally went and bought a RBTA. He was very nice looking and healthy when I bought him. I researched all I could find, making sure my tank was old enough 11 months, water perimeters are stable at
ph 8.4
salinity 1.024
ammonia 0
nitrite 0 nitrate 0
temp 78
Display is 55 gallon with aprox 75 pnds live rock.
29 gallon sump with refugium.
I test weekly and do 10% water changes every two weeks.
I also have a auto top off for the sump using ro/di water.
I thought I was ok to get this guy but now am uncertain. He was fine for the first week...very pretty, eating well twice a week silversides. It did the normal deflated thing at least once a day, but was usually full size within a few hours after it deflated. Yesterday I noticed he stayed deflated all day. It is now the second day deflated. He was in the same spot in the substrate(its where he moved to on his own) for over a week. He is no longer attached to anything..I have now moved him higher up in the rocks, hoping closer to the lights will help. I will see tomorrow.
Oh and my lights are T5 HO 4 54watt bulbs, 2 actinic, 2 10k. They are right at 9 months old and I had planned on replacing them this month. Would that be an issue maybe? Any help anyone can give I would greatly appreciate.
the first day I got it. It moved that night down to the substrate and stayed there for over a week.
These ar the best pictures I can get...ill add more tomorrow after the lights come back on and we see what he looks like.
