Hi fellow hobbyist! I'm getting a 150 gallon oceanic tank in less than a week. I have Vivid Reef converting a 55 gallon tank into a sump for me. I will be using a Bubble Magnus 6 protein skimmer with it. My question is. .. The tank I'm getting comes with two rena canister filters rated up to 175g each. Should I use them? One or both? Different media in each one? Also I currently have a refugium set up with my current 56 gallon tank should I use that as well?

If its a FOWLR system and you keep up with maintaining them, I don't see an issue with using them to run media.

With a 55g sump you would have more than enough room to run that media in there. Id make use of your sump over the canister filters.

Okay thank you very much yes its going to be a FOWLR set up. The refugium I currently have on my 56 gallon should I use that as well? All live stock from 56 gallon going into the 150 gallon tank. Also would a canister filter be sufficient for a quarantine tank? I'm planning on keeping the 56 gallon tank a quarantine tank

I'd use the canister filters on the QT tank instead just for the flow. I'd use the macro algae and some of the sand/rock from your current refuge to seed your new one.
