Advise about adding a Purple Tang

Soylent Green is People!!
The LFS has a little purple tang for a reasonable price and I am tempted to nab it. It has been there for a couple of weeks and it is healthy and eating.

I have a 6' 125 - see my sig for stocking. The one I am particularly worried about is the Kole Tang. He has been in the tank for about a year. The Fox Face is about 7" long and fat.

I have heard that purples can be agressive. Are they agressive towards other fish besides tangs? I might want to try some little gobies or blennies again (perching fish)

You might see a little bit if confliction between the Purple Tang, the Foxface, and the copperband.I think you could do it though yes.

I had two foxes, three tangs and other assorted fish when I added my purple tang. The yellow and purple tang did fight for about a week. They are good with each other now. They have been tank mates for about a year now with no problem. Hopefully they stay that way. Gl.

Thanks,

I think I'll go put a hold on him tomorrow and pick him up on Saturday so I can keep an eye on him in the quarantine. He isn't very big (2 - 2 1/2") so I don't expect he could do much damage to my 4 - 5 inch Kole's or my 7" Fox Face. I have had my O. Clown pair going on 13 years and the female is a Bi... if you come too close to her lair. I have scars on my hands to prove it :)

I got a 180 with 3 yellow a blue face angel pink tail trigger a sail fin a powder and a Mata I think it's called the purple is the smallest and they been together two years.

Now sure is the time to buy a PT; when there's trouble in the Middle East, Rde Sea fish disappear. I have 3 PTs and the're magnificent fish. I'd expect some pecking order stuff; but I think they will settle down. I know what you mean about the clowns; I don't think mated clowns are really aggressive, just extremely territorial. If the Oc Clowns are making it impossible to introduce a new fish; put them in the QT for a week or so and they'll have to settle for a smaller piece of the tank. Sounds weird, but the fish I'd watch is the CBB. They just don't tolerate a lot of bickering, territorial squabbles, etc. Be sure to use a QT on the new tang.

Thanks for the tip regarding the CBB. I sure would hate to upset that one. I'm kinda proud of that success. Its the nicest most interesting fish in the group. I'll keep a good eye out.
