AEFW dip poll

I also use Revive and it works very well on AEFW. I have started experimenting and use it on zoos and LPS with good results. I just bought a new piece of shelf rock and dipped it. Out of the rock comes a half dozen pods that I retrieved, two tiny little gorilla crabs that will be banished, bristle worms, a couple of stars and other critters. Its nice to know that I can control what will be added to the DT.

started my battle with AEFW this week.

so far I've used TLF revive and every acro I dipped had worms even if I didnt see any evidence
I used betadine tonight and only one frag had worms tonight ( might have missed that one with revive)

I'm going to tyr a mix of betadine and revive in a couple of days
so far the corals I have left show no signs of stress but all my light colored acros have been killed
purple bonsai, tri color, Australian delicate
i'm bummed to say the least

Its a brutal brutal battle. I wish that I would have dipped prior to introducing any SPS to my tank and it would have saved me about 80 hours of work. 1&1/2 years later no flat worms after serial treatments with Fluke tabs followed by TMPCC a couple of weeks later.

I now predip with TMPCC, but my switch to coral revive.

We'll see. I am as worried about the quarantine as I am about the flatworms. I would rather die a quick death than slowly waste away.

I still don't see anyone who uses TMPC and Revive and still likes TMPC better.

about 15, but I used two buckets. That is only one.

Did they start dying before the turkey basting/powerheading, or did they just fall off and writhe in agony?

Fell off. I had very few in the swirl bucket. I used 12 cap-fulls in 2.5 gallons for 25 minutes. The vast majority 85% had no signs off distress whatsoever. The millis were the major problem. This bucket had a 7 inch milli in it. I ended up tossing all of my millis but one.

Was the distress from the AEFW or the Revive?

AEFW, the dip didn't seem to cause any problems. Knock on wood

I dipped every sps of mine for 25 minutes at 1.5x dosage and had no problems whatso ever with revive.

But are you saying revive was not that effective on most of the AEFW?

No, that is all revive. They were dead before they hit the swirl bucket.

To clarify, you are saying that you dipped them in revive and that 85% of the aefw were unaffected?

No. I reread this post and I wasn't clear. 85% of the corals had no signs of AEFW related stress PRIOR to dipping. I dipped in one bucket with revive in it for 15 minutes. I swirled the corals in another bucket with just tank water. Most of the AEFW died in the bucket during the 15 minute dip. Very few lasted until the swirl step. All of the ones pictured above died during dipping.
