Well, like they say, if it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, its probably a rat. I found this little SOB under a frag plug. I've had some suspect corals but still cannot find the real signs (bite marks and eggs). The patterning on this guy is a little different than most AEFW's I've seen. Ugghh!

O poopy. Well at least you now know what is going on in the tank Jeff. Please let me know if you need help dipping.

I wouldnt assume that is one of the couple different acro eating types we have found, unless you found him actually munching

Looks like a tiny polyclad to me. If it is he can get 5" long and can eat molluscs, clams and snails

Agreed.

This looks more like a predatory flatworm for Tridacnid squamosa clams. AEFW's never get that big.

+2 They get huge. Kind of a neat critter. I had one when I first set up. Couldn't catch it then I baited his lair with some snails just after the lights went out. He hid under a rock on the sand bed and would leave a graveyard of snails. lol. About 20 mins after the lights went out he came out to dine and I removed.

Bad part is.... like a year later I found another. Wonder if I will see another soon.

Hmmm, I thought the patterning was off from any AEFW I've seen in the past. Polyclads did come to mind. However the size was suspect as I know they get large.

I have a few clams and no symptoms of issues nor any new additions in the last 6+ mos. Interesting. Will keep a close eye on things.

yep, really looks like a polyclad flatworm, i have taken 2 out of my tank, i think one of them killed my clam

Sana

They will kill clams. Very hard to save clams if you have them in your tank IMO. They feast at night so be ready with a redlamp and a baster.
