Aeration having similar effect of reverse photo period

I am just kinda watching this thread, but I think you need more constants to get an accurate test. Does your light actually make your tank go up to 85?!!? Thats nuts!

I think it has something to do with the room temperature. I set the AC at 74 when I go to bed and 77 during the day - it's actually adjusted very close to my lighting schedule. I'm sure my lights do affect the temp a little.

I'm not trying to conduct a perfect experiment, I just want to get a rough idea of how pH is affected by different things.

Wow that's one stable tank. You must have very high acid nutralizing capacity. The good news is you won't have to worry about pH flux! I think we need to find a tank with lower alkalinity, higher algea grows and more fish. Unfortunately there is not really any statistical power and therefore really no possibility of a statistical result, but as I eluded to earlier, there never really was. However, it still would be intresting to see a diffrence, even if not really quantifiable.

Anyway, good try!

 I'm not trying to get my results published in any journals, I'm just trying to get an idea of what affects my pH and by how much. There are observable trends there, even if .1-.2.

Thanks for looking though :p

has nothing to do with journals... just dosn't answer the question unless there is some notable change. I.e. could just be measurment error.

Sorry, I realize that people maybe don't understand my dry humor, esspecially when typed :eek2: I should add, I very much like what you are doing. I just think it would be cool if others joind the bandwagon and someone with more of a swing tried the same thing. I would offer, but I am too chesp to invest in an electronic ph meter

That's what I used to measure the changes. I guess I should have stated that to begin with.

I was a little surprised with the small fluctuations but they are still notable - and consistent.

I'm becoming interested in my temperatures as well. It's too early to tell, but it seems the reverse photo period is helping with temp swings. My temp now is 83.5* and it was 83.2* this morning. I do however have two refugiums and two lights. I'm thinking my refugium lights might be heating the water up as much as or more than my tank lights
