Aged Tank Factor

Random Aquarist

I plan on getting a BTA when I set up my tank. I'm a bit confused about the anemone requirement of an aged tank. Why exactly is that necessary?

This is just an assumption based on my readings and such, but to my understanding, the age requirement is more done for the person and less to do with the tank itself.

When people say wait 6 months, they want to give new tank owners time to get into the habbit of water changes, understand how to do water changes, get used to doing regular water tests and such.

Letting a tank sit for a few months also gives you time to get the random algea blooms and such under control that are caused by over feeding and poor mantainance.

All these things cause stress on an animal that could otherwise be avoided just by showing some patience.

I'm still new and such myself, but this is what I get out of all the talk about the 6 month rule. I've had my tank up and running since September and I plan to get an Anemone some time in January.
