AgentSPS' 300 Gallon ***DreamReef***

I have heard about them from Manhattan Reef member and they are supposely the best out there in NY area. Although lately Unique Coral looks nice also.
You know what type of people live in Greenwich, CT right? So that explain the LFS look over there too.
I have tried to go on every trip to NYC, but always find no time to run for LFS tour. :(
Maybe next time.

Roy-

Good to hear from you bud. Hows the tank?

I'm hoping to check Greenwich Aquaria out this winter. It's ~ 3.5 hours from me. I hear it's worth the trek just to window shop.

Yeah you should be able to pick up Richmonds for under $100 but they usually are adults like my others:

Hi Alex-

This is a Potters wrasse. I had him for 2+ years but sadly he died with a bunch of others a few months back when I had a salinity mishap. These guys come from Hawaii and are really hard to adapt to captivity. I lucked out with this guy. Overall they make for great reef fish if you can get them to live. They are not the least bit aggressive either.

GA is a great shop, I go there quitre often. It has a nice environment when you are there, easy going bunch of guys.

not cluttered with products on shelves. I would check their schedule before going.

Lower temps = healthier system?

Lower temps = healthier system?

Ran across this interesting article summarizing a MACNA presentation on lower water temps being attributed to healthier fish due to lowered matabolism and better oxygenation.

For some time now I have tried to run my tank 75 day and between 73-75 night whenever whether permitted (summer is a bit harder to run this low without racking up the power bills). I do it less for the fish and more for corals. But animals are animals and this science should also be relevant to corals.

While my reasons were based less on science and more on anecdotal evidence, I think this helps support the rationale. If there is one thing I remember from chem class, it is the rule that heat speeds up chem reactions.

FWIW it seems like STN/RTN incidents are more common for me in summer months. Also I can't remember a time (post initial tank break in period) that I had a cyano breakout during winter months.

Lokani is super!!!! What camera setting did you use to snap this great pics?

Really? Well thanks! I was debating whether or not to even post those pics cuz I thought the focus was fuzzy. I just set it at auto so don't know what the setting were unless I got back to Aperture and see the metadata.

Will try to break out the tripod and macro lens later this week for some better shots.

no, i love the deep purple color..

Are shooting with WB, RAW?

That Lokani is pretty insane in person. Peoples eyes go right to that coral. From some angles it looks deep emerald green and purple and from other angles it looks deep purple blue. Closest thing I have seen to it is the Eddie's Purple Monster (Bay Area folks will know what I am talking about).

I have Eddie PM and this boy is such a slow grower for me:(
Similar lokani i got from Tubs long time ago, and i almost lost a colonie, but be able to safe a few frags, so now i am growing back.
