Beautiful Tank

Beautiful Tank

Hello AgentSPS, Thats a beautiful tank you got set up. I'm the other local reefer Ed told you about that ordered the Skimz skimmer. It seems like you are well pleased with the performance of yours so far? The one I ordered is an SK251 internal. It will be a while before I see it in action because I have to finish some house work before I can set up my tank. Once again beautiful tank and set up.

Gilbert

Erik, Gilbert Aka "G" is the guy that bought Alan's 375 tank over two years ago. He is also the guy that i told you about who bought the Skimz from Janet.

G, welcome to RC. This is the tank that you need to see before you start the new setup. His tank is what inspired me to clean my tank up. Keep us posted and let me know if you need help.

Gilbert-

Welcome to RC! A friend of Ed's is a friend of mine.

Yes Ed did tell me about your purchase and I am excited to see another person decide to think outside the ATB/RE/BK box :) I think you will be very pleased with the performance. Take a picture of the label on your pumps and send it to me. Want to see if you have the latest gen. Also look through the intake opening of the pumps and is the needle wheel black or orange?

Ed-

Good seeing you last weekend. Your tank turned out absolutely amazing man! Post a link here to your build thread so everyone can check it out. No attention was spared to any detail. Wish tanks we like cars where you could swap for a month or two :)

His tank inspires lots of us to clean up our tanks.

Bryan-

Your tank is super clean! Really wish I could have a remote sump like you do. Worried my sump would turn into my entire garage if I did  Would be one of those guys with a sump/fuge/growout system larger than my main tank!

Eric- nice looking Harleys, it will take a while for those to clean up those asterina stars, I throw in 3 of them a month or two ago, they still have not clean up little stars in my tank, but the number is reducing steadily. Good thing is that you don't need to worry about feeding the shrimps for a while :-)
BTW, did you notice the little stars doing any harm to corals, or just unsightful?

Ed - nice to see you here, I was following your tank thread on BAR, very impressive, your attention to detail is amazing! I believe your tank is set for success.

Yes I have not noticed any difference in the asterina star population as of yet but have confidence these guys will do the trick. I think peoples suggestion that asterina stars attack live coral tissue is unfounded. The only time I have seen the stars on coral is when the tissue is already dead. Although I have noticed once or twice a situation where a star will accidentally fall on a coral and then, if I forget to remove it after a day or so, I will see a little dead area right under where the star was. Don't consider that the star attacking the coral though.

Snapped some shots of the new Spathulata. The water in the bag was pretty chilly and milky when it arrived and I was really worried I was going to lose it. Despite losing some color it seems to be doing okay so far in the tank (knock on wood). Just for good measure I chopped a few frags for some friends. Finger crossed!

It WAS! I fragged a few pieces for friends. Sadly the mother colony and all but a 1/4" patch on one of the frags STN'd. This seems to be what most people experience with Spaths :( Will still try a few more before I throw in the hat on this beautiful coral!

Sorry to hear about the lose Erik. The Spaths that I picked up is still doing well. Hopefully you'll find one that makes it for you.
