Woow, those Fungia's are unbelievable! Why don't I see them around over here in Europe... :sad1:

Leonardo

Hi Leo-

You should be able to track these down in EU! Much of the primo stuff coming out of the Indo region is now going to the EU and Asia as its closer and higher profit margins.

Erik,

How's the tank coming along?

I forgot to ask you at Baymac. Was there a time when Aquascene James was holding a bunch of acans for you at his shop while you were moving?

Hi Tacocat

Tank is recovering after a mishap involving an out of tolerance refractometer. To give you an idea of the magnitude, the meter was showing 1.025 salinity on pure RODI water!!

James was kind enough to hold onto my SPS when I was setting up the tank previous to this one about 5 years ago. Never had any Acans back then.

WOW, that's pretty bad. I bet it was reading that your tank was like the Dead Sea. Let me know if you need any frags.

Yup, that had to have been you. Perhaps the acans belonged to someone else.

Yeah it was up there....maybe 1.032-1.034. I lost 4 rare wrasses to bacterial infections of the skin which I have a sneaking suspicion was caused by stress related to the salinity.

Thanks for the offer on the frags! I might just have to take you up on that. Still have PLENTY of room :)

Finally got around to taking a few new shots.

That purple-tipped Heliofungia is amazing. And the green curly-cued one is a close second.

Hi Marc-

good to hear from you. Yes I too love that heliofungia. When I purchased it, I wasn't aware it was a helio. You can see why...

Its coloring up more now and hopefully will look like the above photo soon.

"Madusa's Wig" is still my favorite!

I heard from a buddy that there is a local guy who is really into fungia's and has been doing a bunch of experimenting. Apparently he cut some tissue off a fungia and cyanod it to a rock and it is now growing a new plate. I might have him do something with the Madusa's Wig.

Very Cool! I've never seen so many cool fungi's. I too live in the Bay Area and I'm curious where you purchsed the tank? I am looking to go big in the next year but do not want to buy from any of the LFS.

bumpbailey-

I purchased my tank used from Invincible569 and shipped from Texas. Its made by AGE (www.acrylicandglassexhibits.com). You will need a store to order for you as they do not sell direct to public. Other option is an Elos tank. Elos USA is right in our backyard (Pleasanton) and will import you a tank of whatever dimension you like. I have been in Jesse's facility and seen a bunch of nice tanks he has ordered for people.

I just went back and scanned the whole thread. Really cool stuff and will definitely be referencing it when I go for it. I will check out ELOS. I can only imagine that freight bill from TX to CA was.

Thanks and your tank is beautiful.

Don't remind me...more than most spend on their entire system.

I have one similar to this. Do you have any idea of what it is?

Yeah it has really turned into a nice colony. Unfortunately my dussimier is outgrowing the tank and keeps fragging it for me!! I have not identified what it is but, admittedly, have not picked up my Corals of the World to try. I originally got it as a mini colony from IanIwane about 6 months ago.

The other day I posted some recent top down shots but with the maintenance RC did, it all got deleted. So I will try again.
