Last night I tore apart my skimmer to service a pump that had been acting up. When I removed the lid I noticed the gunk around the shaft of the Swabbie was rust colored. Turns our water (condensation) got between the shaft and the rubber gasket of the swabbie motor and rusted some metal in there. Wonder if some of the drippings might have contaminated the water? Would this really be enough to do anything to the tank??

Thought I would post a little rant. A while back on another thread I made the assertion that most acros (including Ice Fire) that had been labeled "Echinatas" were, in fact, Speciosas.
Today I saw LA post the below acro as Speciosa! Nice to see a vendor stepping up to the plate and calling a coral what it is despite the fact the "echinata" title would probably help it sell quicker!

The pinks and reds the edge of that orange plate really make it cool and unique. Good stuff.

Also, might be a little late to ask this, but how in the heck are you able to mount some of those corals towards the middle of the tank? I just love the depth (front to back) of the tank, but figure this would make it difficult to place corals.

Well on the sides its not a problem because I go from the side of the tank. In the center what you see is a very large (18") live rock coral head that everything is mounted on. It is probably 8" - 10" from the front glass and behind it is an open channel about 10" before the back rock wall begins. The 2D nature of the photo does not represent that gap in the rockwork very well. In person it is a pretty cool effect.

Great job on the tank...I live in Monterey we should hook up some time. Did you swoop this from Robbert? What do you think it is? I have a few that are similar from the same shipment and I first I thought they were simplex but now I am beginning to think different...what do you think?

Skimmer is only awesome when the pumps work properly...which is about half the time
Major issues with the Eden pumps. Have had over 6 impellers now and two pumps burnt out. The skimmer is fed off a bleed line from the main return pump.

Yep its absolutely Simplex. I did pick it up from Robert. Some of the ones he got in turned completely purple! pretty spectacular...
