Aggression or Something wrong?

I have a purple tang in QT for about 3 weeks now. Eats like a horse, no signs of any ICH or anything external. However, he does have this odd twitching he does, however I think it's aggression upon seeing his reflection. Since Prazipro is pretty easy on fish I did give him a week long treatment but same twitching. I have never seen him flash against anything ever. Breathing seems fast but I know tangs do breath fast anyways.

Already had a battle with ICH a long time ago and don't wish to repeat so I'm likely overly nervous.

Good news is his feces look normal, no worms.

He's clearly irritated & it's not from reflection. I would freshwater dip the fish and look for opaque flukes, will also give immediate relief, then follow up with a Prazipro regimen. I don't recommend Formalin, it's harsh, burns open wounds, causes immune system dysfunction & not to mention it's a strong carcinogenic.

And before the fish enters the main tank I highly recommend the use of tank transfer method for possible ich. Good luck, pretty fish.

tangs are pretty weird fish , i have a yellow tang that goes through tantrums at times like yours,hes been doing this on and off for over a month, and hes completely healthy, he was in qt for 7 weeks when i got him. has been in my tank for about 4 months..

it freaked me out at first observed him really close for weeks , no ich breathes normal eats like a horse hes fat and cloroful , hes just extremely skitish .

if you cleaned your glass on the bottom he could be seeing his reflection, could be maturity issue..like i said tangs can be pretty weird.

Yeah. I really think it's a aggression thing. When he is in the PVC pipe and can't see his reflection he never does it. Only when he is looking down or at the glass.

He is now sometimes swimming in his side, eyeing his imaginary enemy and swiping his tail at him

How about taping pieces of paper to the bottom and 3 sides of the tank?

I have a hippo that likes to blow up and huff and puff at himself in the corner only when the door is closed to the fish room... I blame it on it being dark in there which causes him to see his reflection, when there is light then he doesnt see it and just sees the door through the glass. I dont think he has anything wrong with him... I love my purple tang although he gives my yellow fits.

Mine started doing it out of the blue when I was doing sump maintenance . Now when I go close he acts like a thug ...
