aggressive stocking list needed

Hello All,

Looking for some advice. I'm almost ready to stock my 144 half moon fish only aggressive tank. Currently in my holding tank (58g) I have a 4inch red tooth Niger trigger and a small undy trigger. I'm almost sure I will need to get rid of the undy once she gets any kind of size on her due to how aggressive they get. Right now the Niger has enough size on the undy that I have had zero problems. But I am really happy with the niger and her size and streamers. What Im looking for is something that will be easy to get here in Des Moines that will live happly with the red tooth but still be consideratered a aggressive fish. I truly love "smart" acting fish that are active. I would love to add more triggers into my 144 but I know Im playing with fire adding anymore then one type of trigger and this red tooth is looking to be the one type I keep. So my question is, what kind of stocking would one look at for this type of tank? I love triggers because they are "smart" acting, are active, and truly easy to take care of. Not saying I dont take care of my tanks, but I dont want to have to do a water change every other day....thats why I stopped keeping a reef.Im looking for something that I will add more color to the tank due to the niger's lack of color. I have thought about harlquin tusks, imperator angelfish, some sort of ballsy puffer? a foxface of some sort? Truly applicate any help with getting this stocking list ready. Im about 2 weeks from getting this tank ready and want to have a solid game plan going into the mix. I really love triggers and want to try and get them worked into this tank setup so any help keeping this niger in the stocking list would be much appricate.

Thanks Again
Derek C.

i would think everything depends on how aggresive your niger is.i have one that defends itself but doesnt start fights. with him i can keep everything from clowns to angels and puffers. Anyway you can look at some of the smaller large angels( blue line, blue spot, false personifer), wrasses(coris gaimard, dragon, harlequin tusk, any thallasoma), other triggers, tangs, damsels, dwarf angels, arothron puffers(dogface, panda, narrow lined, immaculate), hawkfish, and rabbitfish/foxfaces.

Aussie Harlequin is a great choice, I also really like the Thallasoma genus Wrasses. My Lime Green Wrasse is amazing and I think a 144 would be ok for one.

A lot of Triggers options too....Blue Jaw, Pink Tail, Indian. I would give the Undy a fair chance, but if he doesn't work out, you could add Huma or Assasi, or Bursa which have amazing personalities. I would not even try one with an Undulate in there though, too similar.

Ty. The niger and the undy get along great...so far lol. I think my luck is due to how much bigger the niger is over the undy, I tried to place an arc eye in with the group and the undy was all over the arc eye, had to move him, tried again after a heavy feeding with lights out and still had no luck lol.

So from what you folks are saying and kind of what I am liking these are the options Im looking at:

Red Tooth
Aussie Harlequin
some sort of eel?**needing options***
Huma/Assasi/Bursa-one of these guys
I really love french or emperor angelfish is this at all an option? I know my tank is a touch on the small side for these guys but I think with the shape of the tank and the really open aquascape (only 120lbs worth of rock) I could pull it off?

The lps has some lookdowns as well, what an awesome fish, but have not been able to locate much information on these guys as far as tank manners, any tips?

Thank you again everyone for the help.

Have had a snowflake in the past and really liked him but that Jeweled Moray is really cool.

Anyone else have opions on stocking?

The Undy is a serious issue just waiting to happen. I wouldnt add another fish, unless you get rid of it...imo and ime, just a matter of time before he goes after the Niger too...get rid of the Undy and you have many more options....good luck!
