Hi,
After returning from our honeymoon my wife and I were amazed to discover that a vine like plant had virtually taken over our 8 Gallon nano tank.
I remember seeing this first on a colony of zoos that we brought home. I thought little of it and decided not to remove it as the first tendril extended off the colony and onto an adjacent rock.
It's growth was slow at first though while away for three weeks (tank was being taken care of by my mother in law) the plant took off. I suspect it was helped by a reduction in water changes and bit of overzealous feeding while we traveled.
Last night I spent three hours with a tweezer and toothbrush removing it from all of our rockwork and meticulously pulling vines out from in between polyps. The algae was choking out a number of mushrooms and zoos. While I got most of it I am afraid that it is going to come back with vengeance.
Does anyone know what this is and whether any commonly available clean up crew creatures out there will eat this stuff? Considering the size of the aquarium we are limited to things like hermits and snails. Maybe a small crab.
Thanks ahead of time for all of your help.
