i just got back in to the hobby ,and was thinking of my ideal tank ,and i cant decide to go aggresive or cumunnity i have a 26 gallon tank any sugesstions will be helpful.

well if you are willing to spend the money on equipment and such for the aggressive fish only, why not just save up a little more and go with some corals to add more color and diversity to the tank. you could always get some from a local reefer cheaper or for trade. put them in and let them grow. although that would mean you'd have to get better lights, so i guess if the cost isn't a huge problem i'd say go reef. if you are on a tight budget and want to save at first before maybe eventually upgrading, then i see nothing wrong with a fish only tank.

Be sure to look into how many aggressive fish you'd be able to keep in a 26g. Most aggressive fish get big.

yea with a 26 G, i dont think u can much aggressive fish, cux they get very big, well most of em

Ya a 26g would make a much better reef tank. Using a 26g greatly reduces your options on fish. Personally I would only keep a few small fish, some inverts and pack it with coral.

I have a "royal" bicolor dotyback in my 29 gallon, nice looking (half purple/half yellow) small fish with a large attitude. Looks alot like the royal gramma but with a chip on his sholder. Actually this is a problem that I can't find any other fish to put with him. He burrows under the rock and has a hole that he sleeps in, he is ok with reef other then he can spit sand on items near the sandbed.

Agressive fish need territory, and your tank is too small for that. Reef tanks cost more, but once they are up running successfully, they are the best, they almost run themselves.

Well as most people said, aggressive fish tanks need to be LARGE tanks. Reef tanks can be small to large depending on how much you wish to spend on it.

reef tanks are alot more work and beside if your like most of us trust me when I say in time you'll upgrade your tank and then have two

Why not turn the tank into a nano reef and add a small, aggressive fish? You could house a frogfish, dottyback, pair of clowns (if you're after attitude, some clowns can be VERY aggressive), Brazilian gramma, Dascyllus damsel, dwarf lion, or hawkfish easily in a tank that size. The only downfall is with many of these fish you won't be able to keep shrimp, and even hermits may become dinner. None of them will bother corals or snails though, so you could still have a beautiful reef.
