i have a 25 gallon tank with lots of rock and soft corals. fishwise i have a lime stripped goby, a yellow clown goby and added a possum wrasse about 2 months ago.

ever since adding him anything else i've added has disappeared. over this 2 month time frame, i've added a red neon goby, a blue neon gobyand 2 tail spot blennies. they have all disappeared overnight.

the original lime stripe and yellow clown are still around....

is it possible the possum wrasse is the cause of demise with the other fish? or could it be the lime stripped goby?

any ideas???

I have had a couple possum wrasses in the past. I never saw any agression from either of them. They were also the smallest fish in the tank as well. Also from what I have read about them, they are a peaceful fish. But like any animal each will have it's own personality.

I dont think it is the possum wrasse... They are very peaceful wrasse... Unless the possum is not a possum wrasse, cos the juv slingjaw wrasse looks like a possum wrasse sp...
What is a lime stripe goby, care for a photo? Some goby might be aggressive...

i agree with you guys, i really find it hard to believe the possum is aggressive, he stays in the rockwork except for feeding time.

here's a picture of the lime stripe, he's about 1" long and skits around the tank all day...

Oh... A multiband goby... I have no experience with it... But it is the same genus as the blue neon goby, might have some aggression from the multiband if the temperament is the same as neon goby...

The possum wrasses are one of the most docile fishes around. They wouldn't harass any other fishes, that I've seen in my experience. The multibanded gobies are also very peaceful, except they "may" pick on each other as they mainly stay on lower surfaces and that limits the space available for each other (compared to other fishes that utilize the entire tank volume). The red neon goby is also another great peaceful looking fish. The blue neon goby will show agression towards it's own kind, but not towards the others I have listed.

The problem is also with all the fishes you've listed, they are all small and majority of them like to hide or sit instead of actively swimming out in the open. So it's a combination of either they are hiding in the crevices or back of the tank or they are indeed dead.

Great selection of choices by the way.

well the red neon goby has shown his face....yaaaa!!! :)

botp2k1, a agree they all are small so hiding would be easy to do. IME the tailspots like to back into holes and hang out, but they always seem to flit out at feeding time, there has been no sign of either since thet were added to the tank...
i don't have a lot of hope that either will appear but i'll give them a little more time....

thanks,,lisa
